Update on Wakefield Visitor Services
You may be aware that in 2007 / 8 we reviewed visitor services at WYAS, Wakefield and West Riding Registry of Deeds in order to improve the quality of services we provide to our visitors:
- We introduced an enquiry desk into the Registry of Deeds searchroom with a member of staff on duty to supervise the searchroom, to answer enquiries and retrieve deeds volumes.
- We introduced CCTV cameras in the public areas of the building and in the rear car park.
- The procedures for consulting the Registry of Deeds volumes fell in line with those in the main archive searchroom.
In Summer 2008 we asked you for your views on the manned reception desk in the registry of deeds.
The majority of visitors agreed that the introduction of a staffed reception desk had improved the service for customers.
Lunch time Closure 1-2pm
From 6th April 2009 we will be closing the WYAS, Wakefield archive searchroom and the Registry of Deeds searchroom from 1 to 2pm.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this temporary change in opening hours which is due to reduced staffing levels at our Wakefield office. This closure over lunchtime will allow us to:
- Staff the reception desk in the Registry of Deeds searchroom.
- Offer an unrestricted service during our searchroom opening times.
- Maintain the security of collections.
Opening Hours.
Appointments recommended; our searchrooms may be subject to unplanned closure because of staffing difficulties.
Monday: 9.30am to 8pm (Closed 1 to 2pm)
Tuesday: 9.30am to 5pm (Closed 1 to 2pm)
Thursday: 9.30am to 5pm (Closed 1 to 2pm)
Saturday: 9.30am to 1pm
(Second Saturday in the month only)
Saturdays open 2009 : 18 April, 9 May, 13 June, 11 July
