What enquiries can we answer?
We can answer enquiries about our collections
We can tell you:
• If we hold archive material relating to a specific subject, organisation or individual.
• Give you details of its location and how you can access the archive material.
• Search our indexes and catalogues on your behalf for a maximum of 10 minutes.
Direct you to alternative sources if we are not able to help.
We can search for information in our collections
We can carry out 10 minute ‘look ups’ for information in our collections. We will check our indexes and catalogues for relevant information. We can also carry out very simple searches in our original manuscript records, microform and printed sources available in the five offices of the West Yorkshire Archive Service. Sources include church, school, police, hospital, estate and business records as well as electoral registers and court records.
Following this if further research is required you can either visit us in person to with continue the research or use our paid 30 minute search or Research Services.
Some of the archives we hold contain personal information about individual and access may be restricted under Data Protection legislation.
