Visiting the archives
WYAS offers visits to small classes of school children, students and adult learning groups. Offering Learning Outside the classroom opportunities is an area that WYAS is keen to develop.
We will, where possible, tailor the visit to the learning requirements of the group and ensure it covers relevant issues and topics. Different offices offer different styles of visits and specialisms in different areas. See below for more details.
For A-level students, Further and Higher Education groups and Adult Learning groups we can do an introduction to researching in an archive and offer basic training on funding aids and catalogues.
We attempt to offer visits in all our offices but this is not always possible due to size, opening times and staffing restrictions.
WYAS places a small charge on educational visits. Groups of Adult Learners can also book standard group visits – but they cannot be adapted to suit the needs of the group or tailored to the study needs. Charges range from £2 per student to £5 depending on how specialised the requirements are and the level of training offered.
