WYAS Wakefield will close to the public on the 13th of May 2016. We will re-open to the public in our new building in early 2017.
WYAS Wakefield is due to
relocate to the new West Yorkshire History Centre in early 2017. In
preparation for this exciting move, WYAS needs to repackage collections,
barcode 100,000 containers, and complete many other areas of work over the next
few months. To ensure these targets are met, the Registry of Deeds
building will be closed to the public the third full week of each calendar
month this will continue until we open in the new building. Our final closed week will be the week beginning the 18th - 22nd of April, the office will fully close on the 13th of May 2016 to move its collections to the new purpose built West Yorkshire History Centre.

Second Saturday of the month 9.30am to 1.00pm
Saturday openings until June 2016:
Our final Saturday opening will be the 9th of April 2016 from 9.30am until 1.00pm.
A rest area is available for the consumption of your own refreshments on the ground floor. Public lockers and a water cooler are also located in this area.

About the Office
The West Riding Registry of Deeds building is the headquarters of the West Yorkshire Archive Service. It houses records of the former West Riding and West Yorkshire county wide, as well as being the record office for Wakefield Metropolitan District. The Headquarters also provide facilities such as conservation and microfilming for the whole Service.
