Access to original documents including the Registry of Deeds:
Monday 9.30 to 5pm (Closed 1 to 2pm)
Second and fourth Monday of the month 9.30 to 8pm (closed 1 to 2pm)

Tuesday
9.30 to 5pm (closed 1 to 2pm)
Thursday 9.30 to 5pm (closed 1 to 2pm)

Second Saturday of the month 9.30 to 1pm

Microfilm collections, reception and finding aids
Will be available at all of the above times also 1 to 2pm

Wakefield Monday evenings open in 2012: 
9 and 23 January, 13 and 27 February

Wakefield Saturdays open in 2012:
14 January,  11 February, 10 March, 14 April, 12 May, 9 June


Facilities:

A rest area is available for the consumption of your own refreshments on the ground floor. Public lockers and a water cooler are also located in this area.

Toilets are available.

Car Parking There is free parking available for visitors to Wakefield Archives.
Train We are approximately 500 metres from Wakefield Westgate Railway Station
Bus We are approximately 500 metres from Wakefield Bus Station



About the Office

The West Riding Registry of Deeds building is the headquarters of the West Yorkshire Archive Service. It houses records of the former West Riding and West Yorkshire county wide, as well as being the record office for Wakefield Metropolitan District. The Headquarters also provide facilities such as conservation and microfilming for the whole Service.
